Detect-It Endorsed by Michigan Aerospace and Defense Caucus

The Michigan Defense & Aerospace Caucus is an official, bi-partisan caucus within the legislature of the State of Michigan. Formed in 2019, the purpose of the Caucus is to re-brand and promote the State of Michigan as a leading location for defense and aerospace activities, including for the private-sector space industry. The structure of the Caucus includes multiple non-legislative advisory committees that provide advice to legislative policy makers and help communicate the Caucus's policies through the communities comprising the various advisory committees. The Caucus has close relationships with all of the major military service organizations, such as the Air Force Association, the Association of the United States Army and others.

To Whom It May Concern,

As the Co-Chairman of the Michigan Aerospace and Defense Caucus, I am happy to reach out to you and inform you of some significant developments happening in Michigan. Specifically, in the ever-growing and expanding field of Aerospace and Defense and Artificial Intelligence. Michigan is one of the nation's leaders in the development, manufacturing, testing, and implantation of advanced solutions for our ever-evolving and changing world.

Detect-It was founded in 2020 to serve US business with Artificial Intelligence Technology. Detect-It Technology has been a game changer for Michigan/global businesses and provides them with innovative industry 4.0 solutions. Detect-It is a Michigan-based company with its artificial intelligence software being developed in Oak Park, Michigan, and not in other states. Detect-It has won the 2021 Automotive News Pace Pilot Award and most recently helped the Magna Seating Division win the $2 million prize for 2024 Technology of the Year at its Global Leadership Conference held in Austin, TX. Detect-It is on the cusp of becoming a global Artificial Intelligence solutions provider and wishes to start scaling its operations in Michigan to provide support in the Aerospace, Defense, and Education sectors. Its defect detection and assembly verification technology will help Aerospace and Defense companies eliminate manufacturing defects and ensure the assembly quality of all parts going out their doors.

Detect-It is planning to work with Michigan-based integrators to help scale up their operations and provide the necessary support. Detect-It wishes to immediately help the children and the residents of Michigan by utilizing its Artificial Intelligence Technology to help create Zone Security, Threat Detection, and emergency alerts.

Currently, Detect-It is actively being recruited to relocate its operations to Colorado and Virginia. In order to scale its operations in Michigan, Detect-It will need $4.95 Million to hire I 0-15 high-wage employees, acquire the necessary infrastructure updates, and expand/acquire the necessary building space.

AI Technology is critical now more than ever as large public gatherings are becoming increasingly unsafe and the demand for 100% quality part verification is increasing among the Aerospace and Defense companies. As Chairman of the Aerospace and Defense caucus, I will work to address the needs of Detect-It to help facilitate its broad use in Michigan, around the U.S., and the world by:

  • Advocating for matching funds for Aerospace and Defense industry investment if they meet all contingent criteria. Helping facilitate the hiring of highly talented, high-wage, salaried employees when necessary.

  • Sponsoring industry-specific legislation as needed.

  • Providing grant letters and letters of support from myself and fellow caucus members when necessary.

  • Aiding, when and if possible, in obtaining state and city of Detroit contracts and grants.

We believe that the goals of Detect-It are consistent with the mission and interests of the Aerospace Defense Caucus and encourage you to investigate its feasibility for yourself. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to my office at (517) 373-0994.

Sincerely,

Michael Webber

AI startup Detect-It seeks to gain momentum in automotive sector

NICK MANES | July 30, 2021

  • Company works to bring proprietary artificial intelligence software technology to market

  • Focus now is pitching value proposition to mostly tier one suppliers

  • Startup wrapping up $5 million Series A venture capital fundraising round

"Artificial intelligence" and "machine learning" may be buzz words among corporate industrial executives, but an Oak Park startup sees opportunity to make them part of everyday work flow outside of the C-suite and right on the shop floor.

Detect-It LLC, which formed late last year, now seeks to bring its proprietary artificial intelligence software technology to market, targeting predominately tier one automotive suppliers. The message the company hopes to convey, according to President and CEO Kevin Kerwin: Those companies are in the business of manufacturing auto parts, not coding. Absent an application like his Detect-It software called Net Builder, companies would need to develop their own AI code, Kerwin told Crain's in an interview.
